Glossary
The words on JhiOn, in plain language.
What the service, data and health terms on this site mean. The health terms are education, not advice.
The service
- 90-day plan
-
Three or four priorities you agree with your doctor for the next 90 days. Each one has a reason, a target set by your doctor, a due date and a named person responsible.
- Adequate information
-
The 7 working days for your baseline and plan are counted from when JhiOn has adequate information to prepare them. This condition is part of the service target, which is not a guarantee.
- Baseline
-
Your starting health picture on JhiOn. Your doctor reviews it with you (blood pressure, sugar, weight and waist, lipids and history) and signs it off.
- Caregiver
-
A family member who helps an adult with their care. On JhiOn, a caregiver sees appointments, tests due, completed actions and the coordinator's contact, but not results, diagnoses or consultation notes unless the adult authorises it.
- Clinical governance
-
The rules and checks for how clinical decisions are made and reviewed on JhiOn, covering eligibility, protocols, escalation and audit. It is led by the Lead Doctor, a role only a registered medical practitioner can hold, and sales targets cannot override a clinical decision.
- Coordinator
-
The named person who arranges your tests and appointments after you approve the price, chases results and closes actions only with evidence. A coordinator never interprets abnormal results.
- Family plan
-
One plan for up to four consenting adults, with shared scheduling and separate records. Whoever pays gets billing rights only, and paying never gives access to a relative's records.
- Healthspan
-
The part of your life you spend in good health, not just the number of years you live. JhiOn calls its service healthspan management: continuing, doctor-supervised care between the moments the health system already covers.
- Lead Doctor (clinical lead)
-
The role at JhiOn that leads clinical governance. Only a registered medical practitioner can hold it. The Lead Doctor owns eligibility, protocol versions, escalation rules, clinical audit and incident review, and a business lead cannot override a clinical decision.
- Membership
-
What the JhiOn fee pays for: organising your records, a set number of doctor reviews, and coordination. Tests, medicines, specialist visits and hospital services are billed separately, and you see and approve the full price first.
- Pilot (the Hyderabad 90-day pilot)
-
JhiOn's first supervised 90-day cycle for a first group, or cohort, of adults in Hyderabad, with seats limited by clinical capacity. It includes a baseline review, a 90-day plan, a named coordinator, a day-45 check-in and a day-90 doctor review.
- Registered medical practitioner
-
A doctor enrolled in a State Medical Register or the National Medical Register. Under the National Medical Commission Act, 2019, only someone enrolled in one of these registers may practise medicine as a qualified medical practitioner. India's Telemedicine Practice Guidelines (2020) direct every such doctor to display their registration number. On JhiOn, every medical decision is made and signed by a registered medical practitioner.
- Review queue
-
The list of cases and questions waiting for a doctor to look at. On JhiOn, medical questions go to your doctor's review queue.
- Service hours
-
The days and times JhiOn's team is working, shown on every page; messages sent outside them are answered when service hours resume. JhiOn is not an emergency or monitoring service.
- Service target
-
A time JhiOn aims to meet during service hours, not a guarantee. Examples are your baseline and plan within 7 working days of JhiOn having adequate information, and a doctor review of a changed result within one working day.
- Source-linked
-
Each value in your JhiOn record points to the page of the report it came from, so it can be checked against the original. Corrections keep the history, and nothing is silently overwritten.
- Treating doctor
-
A doctor who already looks after a condition you have. JhiOn respects their plan rather than replacing it, and with your consent can share a source-linked summary with them.
- Waitlist
-
The list you join to ask for a seat in the pilot. Joining is not enrolment: JhiOn confirms eligibility on a short call before any payment.
Your data
- ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account)
-
A 14-digit number under the Government of India's Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) for accessing and sharing your health records digitally across healthcare providers. JhiOn is not linked to ABHA or ABDM yet, and you never need an ABHA number to join.
- Consent
-
Your permission for a specific use of your information. On JhiOn, permissions are given per person and per purpose, and you can withdraw consent at any time, as easily as you gave it.
- Data Fiduciary
-
The DPDP Act's name for the organisation that decides why and how personal data is used. JhiOn's privacy notice says JhiOn is the Data Fiduciary for the personal data it describes.
- Data Principal
-
The DPDP Act's name for the person the personal data is about. For your own records that is you. If the person is a child, it includes their parent or lawful guardian, and if the person has a disability, it includes a lawful guardian acting for them.
- Data Protection Board of India
-
The national body set up under the DPDP Act to deal with breaches of the Act and complaints about personal data. The Government established it in November 2025. Its power to look into complaints from individuals takes effect eighteen months after the Act's 13 November 2025 commencement notification, and from then on you must first raise a grievance with the organisation.
- DPDP Act
-
India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023: the law on how organisations use personal data in digital form and the rights people have over it. Its Rules were notified on 13 November 2025. A separate notification the same day brings the Act into force in stages: the definitions and the sections that set up the Data Protection Board took effect at once, and most duties and rights, including consent, grievance and nomination, take effect eighteen months after that notification was published.
- Grievance officer
-
The person an organisation names to receive complaints about how it handles your personal data. JhiOn's grievance contact is the privacy and grievance email on the Contact page. Section 13 of the DPDP Act gives you a right to a readily available way to raise a grievance with the organisation, and says you must use it before going to the Data Protection Board. That section comes into force eighteen months after the Act's commencement notification of 13 November 2025.
- Nominee
-
A person you choose to use your data rights for you if you die or become unable to use them yourself. The DPDP Act calls this the right to nominate.
- Personal data
-
Any information about a person who can be identified from it, such as your name, your email address or a report with your name on it. The DPDP Act deals with personal data in digital form.
